The Fawcett Society is currently lobbying for a ban on the dismissal of pregnant workers as research has revealed that 30,000 workers lose their jobs through pregnancy which in turn has been linked to the gender pay gap and child poverty.
According to The Fawcett Society who are a women's right campaign group, two out of five poor children have a single mother and a third of these children have a mother that is on a low income or no income at all. The research shows that single mothers are twice as likely to live in poverty.
